Deepen your love for science this Valentine’s Day with a visit to the California Academy of Sciences. Catch a behind-the-scenes collections tour to discover some of the unusual ways species make a love connection, from promiscuous snails shooting love darts to pufferfish creating elaborate seafloor designs to woo a mate; “Love is a Battlefield” tours run daily from February 13-17. On February 14, visit the museum to witness our spirited colony of African penguins receive heart-shaped valentines to line their nests during the 10:30am and 3pm feedings– an amorous annual tradition! And no aquarium visit would be complete without checking in with the “Cupid Cohort” of endangered sunflower sea stars, who turn 1 year old on February 14 and are now on view in Steinhart Aquarium.
