Join Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District biologist, Karine Tokatlian, online to learn all about badgers! Many people are surprised to learn that that American badgers, a species of special concern in California, live in the grasslands of many Midpen preserves. But little has been known about how many there are, where they are located and what paths they travel. To find these answers, Midpen has embarked on a three-year habitat study to answer these questions and help these animals and other grassland creatures thrive. Karine will teach you how to identify badgers and their burrows, what we are learning about their secret night time activities and why wildlife corridors are so important. You'll also learn about burrowing owls that use badger burrows for shelter. There will be time for questions and answers after the presentation. All ages are welcome!
