Arrive at Zoo
All volunteers must arrive by 8:45am to check-in at Arroyo Viejo Creek immediately to the left upon entering the Zoo security booth. Volunteers will receive free parking for the day and admission to the Zoo. It's important that all volunteers arrive by 8:45am as they will move to the project location as a group. We will not be able to accommodate individuals who arrive later than 8:45am.
8:45 AM - 9:00 AM
Check-In and Introduction
Volunteers will check in with Zoo staff and receive an introduction to volunteering with Oakland Zoo. You will be introduced to your project leads and head to the creek together.
9:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Volunteer Project
As a volunteer, you will be working on a variety of outdoor tasks that may include picking up garbage, pulling invasive species, spreading mulch, moving materials, cleaning signage, or planting native plants. Note: You will NOT be working directly with animals. Thank you for your hard work!
11:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Enjoy the Zoo!
After the project is completed, you are welcome to visit the Zoo for the rest of the day. Volunteers will receive free admission for their help. Show your ticket or order confirmation at the main entrance for entry into the Zoo.
